Our range of alcohol free disinfection products
Continu was developed in 2009 utilising the latest technology in infection
control solutions. Problems of microcracking on surgery equipment and surface degradation were being reported from use of pre-existing, market place disinfectants. As many of our own lines of equipment were becoming damaged by inadequate disinfectants, we started development of our own range, called Continu.
Continu, being water based, can be used with confidence on all surfaces within a clinical area, including equipment, without compromising on efficacy. No hazard warnings also make Continu an ideal choice that simplifies the COSHH risk assessment process.
Surface cleaning & disinfection

Equipment cleaning & disinfection
Continu Instrument & Ultrasonic Cleaner concentrate is a “specifically formulated” concentrate solution that is ideal for pre- cleaning instruments as it is so gentle that it will not damage equipment but the surfactant is
sufficiently powerful to remove debris.
Continu disinfectant for dental unit waterlines is gentle and non-corrosive, and has been proven to achieve a 99.9999% reduction in legionella.

As a water-based product, Continu DUWL can be used with confidence. The formulation is noncorrosive and will not damage equipment or water lines whilst effectively removing bio-film.
As well as complying with the HTM 01-05 requirements for disinfection of Dental Unit Water Lines the Continu solution is also a Class IIa, UKCA accredited, Medical Device. Continu DUWL disinfectnat is independantly tested to EN 13623 and is proven as 99.999% effective against Legionella.

Surface Cleaning Techniques
Throughout the day, surfaces accumulate germs and dirt as they are touched by objects, people or airborne particles. Surfaces can harbour harmful microbes such as bacteria's and viruses and become a ground zero for further spread via cross contamination.
Regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces is vital to help prevent the spread of harmful microbes. Proper surface cleaning technique is every bit as important as the products used.
Hand Washing Techniques
Throughout the day, hands accumulate germs and dirt as they touch objects and other people. Individuals can then transfer these substances to others or infect themselves when touching their faces. Even with the use of gloves, transfer can occur.
Regular handwashing can limit the transfer of microbes, such as bacteria and viruses. However, many people do not wash their hands properly or for long enough to get rid of the germs. Proper hand washing technique is more than just the product used.
Frequently asked questions
What is Continu?
Continu is a range of water based cleaning and disinfection products developed for use in medical settings.
Is Continu a new product?
Though Continu has been developed using the latest technology in infection control solutions it is also very well established within the medical industry having been successfully used in surgeries since 2009.
Is Continu effective against Coronavirus?
The 2 in 1 formulation has been tested effective against all enveloped viruses, to EN 14476:2013 + A1 2015, by BluTest Laboratories. BluTest confirm that a pass against EN 14476:2013 allows a claim against the Wuhan Virus so, as our 2 in 1 surface cleaner and disinfectant achieves this standard, it may be considered effective against Coronavirus.
How is Continu manufactured?
Continu is made in the UK at an ISO13485 accredited production facility and Nuview’s Quality Management System has been independently audited to meet the requirements of UK MDR.
How long does it take to work?
Contact times vary depending on the micro-organisms present but Continu starts working instantly upon application with many organisms covered by 30 seconds. By wiping the surface and leaving the liquid to dry naturally the required contact time for all organisms covered by the EN test standards will be achieved.
Is Continu HTM 01-05 Compliant?
The guidance does not specify which disinfectants should be used but the Continu range has been developed to help Practices achieve compliance from its alcohol free ingredients to wall mounted soap dispensers together with delivering solutions for disinfecting water lines and cleaning instruments that fulfil the requirements of HTM 01-05
How does Continu support adherence to Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) guidelines?
Practices are required to take particular care in the storage and preparation for use of decontamination chemical products and to adhere to COSHH regulations. As Continu products are water based and generally supplied ready to use they have very low hazard ratings which simplifies the COSHH risk assessment process. Continu products are also supplied with a COSHH disc providing instructions for use and data sheets.
Is Continu UKCA Marked?
Continu products are fully compliant with the relevant UK legislation for each product type. Those Continu products that are allowed to be under the Medical Devices Directive are appropriately UKCA marked, otherwise they are compliant with the EU Biocidal Product Regulations as required. HTM 01-05 makes no stipulation that disinfectants should carry a UKCA mark
Where can Continu be used?
As Continu is water based, it is very gentle meaning it may be used on fabrics, leather, plastics, wood, glass and Corian® work surfaces. Conversely, bleach, acid or solvent based solutions may damage surfaces and HTM01-05 notes that “the presence of protein will compromise the efficacy of alcohol-based wipes.”
