Delta Dental Academy Course: Mastering the Terauchi Technique

Nuview is proud to support Delta Dental Academy once again, this time for an exclusive course on the Terauchi Technique, led by Dr Massimo Giovarruscio. Following the sold-out success of last year’s Art of File Retrieval with Dr Yoshi Terauchi, demand for hands-on endodontic training remains high, and this course promises an exceptional learning opportunity.

Delegates will benefit from full access to Dr Terauchi’s January lecture recording, followed by a practical, supervised session with Dr Massimo. Using their own Terauchi File Retrieval Kit (TFRK), each participant will work on 3D-printed and extracted teeth, practicing the technique in a controlled, realistic environment.

To ensure the best possible learning experience, Nuview is providing Zeiss bench-mounted dental microscopes for every delegate. High-quality magnification allows attendees to experience the Terauchi Technique in detail, supporting the safe and effective removal of fractured endodontic instruments.

Why the Terauchi Technique Matters

Instrument fractures within the root canal system are one of the most challenging complications in endodontic treatment. Retrieval can be difficult, frustrating, and carries the risk of further damage. Research shows that the Terauchi Technique is predictable, highly successful, and more conservative than traditional methods, reducing unnecessary dentin sacrifice while improving patient outcomes.

This course combines contemporary endodontic concepts with CBCT-guided strategies to safely remove fractured instruments. The structured format ensures delegates gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice:

  • Morning session: Theory, including the principles and rationale behind the Terauchi Technique.
  • Afternoon session: Fully interactive hands-on practice under expert supervision.

Course Aims

With no standardised method currently established for fractured instrument removal, this course focuses on teaching minimally invasive, predictable techniques using the Terauchi File Retrieval Kit. Delegates will learn how to:

  • Minimise dentin removal while maximising retrieval success
  • Reduce procedural time
  • Avoid iatrogenic events

By the end of the day, participants will leave with practical experience, enhanced confidence, and a deeper understanding of one of today’s most effective instrument retrieval methods.

Nuview is delighted to provide Zeiss dental microscopes for this course, reinforcing our commitment to supporting dentists in accessing the highest-quality visualisation tools for learning and patient care.
